Kemper Liquid Overlay System to Various Flat Roofs.

Project Type(s): Kemperol Liquid Overlay System

Location: Egham, Surrey

Date Completed: June 2024

This hotel in Surrey experienced persistent leaks. Following joint site surveys with Kemper Systems, a detailed specification was created and costed for the client.

The roof was divided into 13 distinct areas, each requiring different treatments, including asphalt, mineral felt, single-ply membranes, and an inverted roof with numerous LG boards and 20/40 pebbles. Issues with blocked outlets and drainage were identified, addressed with CCTV inspections, cleared, and new refurbishment outlets were installed prior to waterproofing.

In certain areas, the mineral felt had to be removed and a self-adhesive carrier installed due to moisture in the previous layers. All roofs were prepared, repaired, jet washed, and then treated with the Kemperol 2K-PUR waterproofing system, covering all flat surfaces, upstands, and roof penetrations. The hotel's nature required extensive detailing in tight and awkward areas, compounded by challenging weather conditions at the end of last summer and throughout winter.

The system was switched to Kemperol V210 later in the year to facilitate application in lower temperatures when the rain subsided. Even then, drying the numerous pipes was essential before proceeding.

Credit is due to the on-site team for their perseverance through adverse weather and the extensive, time-consuming detailing required.
